  2. Little About Nouns • Nouns are a person, place, or thing • Are the subjects of a sentence • A noun is anything you can hear, touch, and smell • A prepositional phrase usually ends in an noun • We talk and communicate through nouns • Can be classified all the way to count nouns and mass nouns

  3. Proper Nouns Proper nouns are nouns that are the names of people places and things. They always begin in a capitol letter Examples: Mary, Butch, Chuck, Texas, Sunflower

  4. Singular Noun They are never plural and will never in an “s”. Singular nouns is a noun that only describes 1 thing, person, or place Examples: Cat, dog, horse, bean, and monkey

  5. Plural Noun A plural noun describes more than 1 people, place, and thing. Usually always end in an “s” Example: Hogs, Blankets, Chairs, and Tables

  6. Collective Noun A collective noun describes more than 2 people, places, and things Examples: tribe, team, group, and class

  7. Count Nouns They are a very specified noun that are the numbers usually. Usually you don’t here this type of noun very often Example: twelve, two, five, and six

  8. Mass Noun A mass noun is any noun that we cant see Usually has something to do with nature Example: Air

  9. Common Nouns Common nouns can be divided in countable nouns and uncountable nouns Any person, place, or thing Is not capitalized Example: city, newspaper

  10. Pronouns Two types of pronouns: possessive and personal Pronouns take the place of nouns Example of possessive: yours and they Example of personal: I and me

  11. Pronoun Antecedent Agreement They take the place of two or more names and objects Example: they replace Paul and Christine
