  2. He learned earthly wealth is nothing Luke 16:19-22 (Eccl 5:15) You can’t take it with you!

  3. We must not trust in richesLuke 16:14 • No satisfaction of the soul, Eccl 5:10-12 (4:8); Matt 16:26 • No benefit from hoarding wealth, Eccl 5:13 • No assurance of a legacy from money, Eccl 2:21

  4. Riches of the Righteous • The worldly view indulgent living as the reward of wealth, Luke 12:15-19 • Righteous are motivated to do good with their possessions, Luke 12:20-21; 16:20-21; 1 Tim 6:17-19; Psa 49:16-20

  5. He learned that punishment for sin is real, painful and eternal Luke 16:23-25 I am tormented in this flame!

  6. Hell is Hot…and it Hurts!Mark 9:43-48 • God is willing to punish sinners after death, Rom 2:5, 8-9 (2 Ths 1:8-9) • God desires our salvation and offers it as long as we are alive, 1 Tim 2:3-4

Prov 18:24; 27:6 • Young boy who says: “if you love me you’ll make love with me”! • Drug dealer: “the first hit is on me!” • Drinker: “Have a drink, just one”! Prov 23:31-32 • Immoral woman who entices, Prov 7:7, 21-27 • Endure temptations and resist the devil! James 1:12; 4:7

  13. He learned that the word of God is enough Luke 16:27-31 Do not refuse Him who speaks!

  14. Enough to Convict and ConvertJohn 16:8; 2 Tim 3:16 • Godly sorrow and repentance • King Josiah, 2 Chrn 34:14-21, 27-28 • Bereans, Acts 17:11-12

  15. Enough to Complete Us in Christ2 Timothy 3:17 • Without using creeds, confessions or catechisms • By using the powerful word of God, Col 1:28 • Hear Him! (Matt 17:5)
