  4. Anxiety Anxiety presents in children and adolescents when they are repetitively experiencing extreme fear and worry over a period of time. This is also accompanied by changes in a child’s behaviour such as sleep, eating, or mood.

  5. Adjustment to Divorce/Separation Many children and teenagers have experienced the stress of divorce. How they react depends on their age, personality, and the circumstances of the separation and divorce process.

  6. Autism Spectrum Disorder Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a brain disorder that starts early in life. It affects social communication and interaction and is accompanied by repeating and narrow patterns of behaviour or interests.

  7. Depression/Mood Disorder In its’ mildest form, depression is the most common psychological problem for teenagers. We usually describe depression as ‘feeling sad’, but without being aware of its other symptoms, it can be misdiagnosed.

  8. Behaviour and Emotional Regulation Parents expect temper tantrums from  2 and 3-year olds, however angry outbursts don’t necessarily stop  after the toddler years. Older kids sometimes have trou ble handling anger and frustration, too.

  9. Developmental Child, adolescent developmental issues Adoption issues Attachment Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder e.g. ADHD and ADD Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) formerly known as Asperger’s

  10. Eating/Food Related Eating disorders are problems with the way people eat. They can harm a person’s health, emotions, and relationships. There are several types of eating disorders.

  11. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a condition that causes young people to have unwanted thoughts, feelings, and fears. These are called obsessions, and they can make children feel anxious. To relieve the obsessions and anxiety, OCD leads children to do behaviours called compulsions or rituals.

  12. Electronic Addiction While a smartphone, tablet, or computer can be a hugely productive tool, compulsive use of these devices can interfere with work, school, and relationships. When you spend more time on social media or playing games than you do interacting with real people, or you can’t stop yourself from repeatedly checking texts, emails, or apps, it may be time to reassess your technology use.

  13. Substance Abuse Many young people try alcohol and/or drugs during their high school years. Although experimentation with alcohol and drugs can be common amongst young people, it’s not safe or legal.
