Construction of Artificial Irrigation Hill Lakes to Increase Poor Farmers income • يهدف المشروع الى الحد من الفقر في المناطق الريفية والمساهمة في زيادة الانتاجية ورفع دخل المجموعات المستهدفة من خلال: • تحسين ادارة التربة والمياه وانشاء برك لحصاد المياه (صغيرة ومتوسطة) واعتماد تقنيات من اجل الحفاظ على التربة والمياه • زيادة الانتاجية وتحسين الخدمات التسويقية لصغار المزارعين من خلال تقديم خدمات دعم فنية • تطوير قدرات كل الجهات المعنية بتنفيذ المشروع وتجمعات المزارعين The project aims to reduce poverty of target groups in rural areas through: • Improve the management of soil and water and the construction of lakes for water harvesting (small and medium). • Increase agricultural productivity and improve marketing services to small farmers through the provision of technical support services • Capacity building of stakeholders and farmers groups.

Construction of Artificial Irrigation Hill Lakes to Increase Poor Farmers income تم اختيار مناطق عمل المشروع بناء على الخصائص التالية: • المناطق الاكثر فقرا • المناطق التي تكبدت اضرار جسيمة في القطاع الزراعي جراء عدوان 2006 • مناطق ذات قدرات انتاجية زراعية محدودة • المناطق الاكثر تعرضا للتصحر • مناطق تلال مع امكانية لحصاد المياه وادخال زراعات ذات مردودية عالية Focus areas of the project were selected based on the following criteria: • High incidence of poverty • Areas affected by the 2006 Israeli aggression. • Areas with limited agricultural productivity capabilities . • Areas most vulnerable to desertification . • Hills areas with potential for water harvesting crops and the introduction of cost-effective high

7. Construction of Artificial Irrigation Hill Lakes to Increase Poor Farmers income • Small hill lakes (reservoirs) were constructed, ranging in size from 20 000 to 50 000 cubic meters, on a pilot basis, for storing water from springs, runoffs and harvested rain water to be for irrigation by small groups of farms. • شيدت البحيرات التلية الصغيرة والتي تتراوح في حجمها من 20 إلى 50 الف متر مكعب، على أساس تجريبي، وذلك من اجل تخزين المياه من الينابيع وحصاد مياه الامطار لاستخدامها للري من قبل مجموعات صغيرة من المزارع.

8. Construction of Artificial Irrigation Hill Lakes to Increase Poor Farmers income • The project provided water for lands which were left fallow due to shortages of water and increased the interest in re-cultivating the abandoned areas. • قدم المشروع المياه للأراضي البور التي تركت بسبب نقص المياه وزادت الاهتمام في إعادة زراعة المناطق المهجورة.

9. Construction of Artificial Irrigation Hill Lakes to Increase Poor Farmers income • Cropping intensity increased due to project interventionand the cultivated land area increased also. • Farmers became more willing in investing in water harvesting techniques such as terracing and small concrete reservoirs with the support of the project. • زادت الكثافة المحصولية بسبب تدخل المشروع كما زادت مساحة الأراضي المزروعة أيضا • أصبح المزارعون أكثر استعدادا للاستثمار في تقنيات حصاد المياه مثل المصاطب والخزانات الخرسانية الصغيرة بدعم من المشروع.

10. Construction of Artificial Irrigation Hill Lakes to Increase Poor Farmers income • Water harvesting technique through small mountainous lakes are less environmentally damaging compared to bigger water dams, and thus are of relatively positive environmental impact. • تقنية حصاد المياه من خلال البحيرات الجبلية الصغيرة اقل ضررا بيئياً مقارنة بالسدود المائية الاكبر، وبالتالي هي ذات أثر بيئي إيجابي نسبياً

11. Construction of Artificial Irrigation Hill Lakes to Increase Poor Farmers income • Increasing water harvesting coupled with the use of modern irrigation techniques at the farm level became a more economical way of increasing water availability, yields, production and income, particularly for the poor smallholders. • أصبحت زيادة القدرة على حصاد المياه إلى جانب استخدام تقنيات الري الحديثة على مستوى المزارع وسيلة اقتصادية هامة من اجل زيادة وفرة المياه والمحاصيل والإنتاج والدخل، وخاصة لأصحاب الحيازات الصغيرة الفقراء.

12. Construction of Artificial Irrigation Hill Lakes to Increase Poor Farmers income • Sustainable water harvesting and efficient use of excess runoff and spring flows, in addition to soil and water conservation measures and modern irrigation are considered as climate change enabling activities supporting long-term and short-term mitigation measures and adaptation • ان حصاد المياه بطرق مستدامة والاستخدام الفعال للمياه الزائدة الجارية والتدفقات الربيعية، بالإضافة إلى تدابير المحافظة على المياه والتربة والري الحديث تعتبر أنشطة تمكينية تدعم تدابير التخفيف من اثار تغير المناخ على المديين القصير والطويل
