  1. Activities and organization during LS1Site Engineering group - GS department Luigi Scibile GS-SE Special LS1 day on 12 June 2012, EDMS: 1224239

  2. Agenda • Activities structure • GS-SE Planned Items • GS-SE group contributions • Organization • Closing remarks Special LS1 day on 12 June 2012, EDMS: 1224239

  3. Activities(1/3) • The works are structured in three types of activities:34 plan items - 76 group contributions – 25 big, 42 medium, 45 small • Large civil engineering works for the realisation of new buildings, roads and shielding structures (for example, the works for increasing the radiation shielding on the PS extraction region, New building and shaft EAR2 in nTOF, etc.) • Maintenance of the infrastructures only accessible during the long shutdowns (for example: tunnel floors and drains, underground sanitary equipment, roofs of operational buildings, etc.) • Civil engineering works required by equipment groups in their activities during the long shutdown (for example: creation of slabs, excavation of trenches, concrete coring, shielding walls, etc.). Special LS1 day on 12 June 2012, EDMS: 1224239

  4. Activities(2/3) • Large civil engineering works (1/2): • NEW BUILDINGS • HIE – ISOLDE cooling : New building and related facitilies 198-199 • New building and shaft EAR2 in nTOF • ELENA - Extension of blg 193 • New LHCb control room and data center • CMS SL53 (new offices, conference room, visitors gallery) • LIU-SPS 200 MHz RF Upgrade, New RF Building BAF3 - New building construction follow-up • Construction of blg774 • NEW BUILDING 107 Special LS1 day on 12 June 2012, EDMS: 1224239

  5. Activities(3/3) • Large civil engineering works (2/2): • EXTENSIONS/RENOVATIONS • CCC repowering - CE work package bdg874 • PS access - CE works for the new access system for the PS • ISOLDE - extension of target storage area (bdg 179) • Renovation of blg192 • Facade carbonatation treatment - 168-20-21; 30-112 • B38 works following safety inspection • ROADS/SHIELDINGS • Civil Engineering for Increasing the Radiation Shielding on the Route Goward Passage over the PS • Civil Engineering for Increasing the Radiation Shielding on the PS extraction region Special LS1 day on 12 June 2012, EDMS: 1224239

  6. Example - Shielding Septum Special LS1 day on 12 June 2012, EDMS: 1224239

  7. Example – CE works PS access Special LS1 day on 12 June 2012, EDMS: 1224239

  8. Organization 4 1 2 3 Special LS1 day on 12 June 2012, EDMS: 1224239

  9. Organization Special LS1 day on 12 June 2012, EDMS: 1224239

  10. Pending • Some activities are still pending waiting for clarifications on the requirements. • Examples: • Rebuild the access road of BA buildings. • Works on the cranes. • Metallic structures. Special LS1 day on 12 June 2012, EDMS: 1224239

  11. Closing remarks • The large civil engineering works have been planned and the preparation of the call for tenders are in progress. • The last projects that have been approved (SL53 and LHCb control room) will need some extra effort to fit them in the schedule. • For the small works, a three months notice would be ideal to organize the intervention of the contractors. • The current list of activities can JUST fit with the available resources (~50FTE) with accurate balancing.
