African Arts and Crafts

At Foremedia Group , the craft is primarily used to create anything that necessitates a high level of competence. Because of this, the vast bulk of what we call "art" has devolved into a craft. Is it possible to label a "craft" a "art form" based on this? One that, I'm sure, will be argued endlessly for the rest of time.

  2. About Arts and Crafts At Foremedia Group , the craft is primarily used to create anything that necessitates a high level of competence. Because of this, the vast bulk of what we call "art" has devolved into a craft. Is it possible to label a "craft" a "art form" based on this? One that, I'm sure, will be argued endlessly for the rest of time.

  3. Most of the debate stems from Westerners' belief that Africa lacked 'art,' since they saw it as largely focused on painting and other sorts of figurative art. African Arts and Crafts was more concerned with beautifying surfaces such as rock faces and hides, clay containers and mud dwellings, and animal and human skins than with creating works of art.

  4. The metaphorical and spiritual value of African craftsmen and women's work, as well as the purely aesthetic appeal they brought to the table, were treasured in their communities. Masters of their trade have always been appreciated by their colleagues and have a particular place in history.

  5. Common African Craft types • Pottery/Ceramics • Beadwork\sBasketry\sDolls\sMetalware • Handcrafts out of wood

  6. One of the major challenges Africa faces today is preserving its traditional trades while still embracing the logic of First World technology. What matters most is that the communities gain while also maintaining their traditions. African craftsis a popular source of income in modern rural areas
