  4. Woodabe Tribe & Masaai Tribe Woodabe Fula: The Woodabe Fula tribe is from Niger. The Guerewol is a courtship ritual competition that takes place annually. In this festival, young men adorn themselves with ornaments and face painting. They stand in lines to sing and dance in the hopes of catching the attention of single young women. The dance event is called the Yaake. Additionally, there are competitions among the suitors. Masaai Tribe: The Masaai people of Kenya and Tanzania have a peculiar belief. They view spitting as a sign of respect and goodness. The Masaai people use spitting to convey their good wishes at a wedding. Furthermore, when two friends meet, they spit on their hands before shaking hands. Even newborns get spat on by elders of the tribe. This is done to bless the child.

  5. Himba Tribe &Mursi Himba Tribe: In the Himba tribe of Namibia, the women regularly apply a paste of fat, butter and red ochre. This paste is known as ‘otjize’. As girls grow up, they become responsible for their personal hygiene. This is the point when they start applying ‘otjize’. The women practice this habit purely for aesthetic reasons. It gives their hair and skin a beautiful reddish tinge. Mursi: Mursi is a tribe based in Ethiopia. Upon reaching the age of 16, the girls of Mursi tribe begin wearing large wooden plates or pottery in their lower lips. The mother of the girl cuts her lower lip in this settlement. However, it is entirely a personal choice of the girl. Mursi people find this body modification attractive and pleasing.

  6. Bushman, San Tribe (Botswana & Angola) The Bushman or San people of Angola, Botswana, and Angola have a special tradition. This tribe performs a sacred dance that is considered to have sacred powers. The healers of this community dance around the fire while chanting hymns. They do so until they reach a higher realm of consciousness. In this state, they get access to the world of spirits. The Bushman healers perform this dance to cure physical illnesses. They also aim to get rid of emotional evil like hatred, anger, and jealousy by doing the healing dance.
