  4. Red Square Red Square is the capital’s main square. The square separates the Kremlin, from a historic merchant quarter, known as Kitay-gorod. Each building in Red Square is a legend in its own right.

  5. St Basil's Cathedral St Basil’s Cathedral is on Red Square. It was built by the architects Barma and Postnik in 1555-1561. It was built in honour of the victory of the Russians over the Kazan khanate. The Cathedral is often taken as a symbol of Moscow.

  6. The Bolshoi Theatre The oldest theatre of opera and ballet in our country is the Bolshoi Theatre. The best ballet performances and Russian and foreign operas are performed in this theatre.

  7. Kremlin Kremlin is the heart of Moscow. The history of the Kremlin goes back to older times. The Kremlin has been the centre of the Russian state and the residence of the Russian tsars.Now it is the official residence of the President of Russia.

  9. At the foot of the Bell Tower of Ivan the Greatare the Tsar Cannon and the Tsar Bell. The Tsar Bell was founded in 1734. The bell weighs 216 tons, with a height of 6.14 m and diameter of 6.6 m.

  10. The Tsar Cannon, the largest cannon in the world, was cast in 1586. It weighs nearly 38 tonnes and has a length of 5.34 m.

  13. The Armoury Chamber is the most famous Kremlin museum.It was built in 1851.The famous golden Monomach’s Cap, the first Russian Imperial Crown the throne of Ivan the Terrible, Russian Diamond Fund and other historical items are displayed there.

  14. the Kunstkammer The Kunstkammer was the first museum in Russia. It was established by Peter the Great and was completed by 1727. The tsar's personal collection features a large assortment of human and animal fetuses with anatomical deficiencies.

  15. Peterhof Peterhof is a series of palaces and gardens, sometimes called the "Russian Versailles". It is located about twenty kilometers west and six kilometers south of St. Petersburg. "Peterhof" may also refer to the adjacent town of 82,000 people. The palace-ensemble along with the city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The vast Hermitage collections are displayed in six buildings, the main one being the Winter Palace which used to be the official residence of the Russian Tsars. The Hermitage holds the Guinness World Record as the world's largest collection of paintings.

  17. the Summer Garden The Summer Garden was laid out by foreign garden planners between 1712 and 1725 in a Dutch Baroque style. Three years later, the walks were lined with a hundred allegorical marble sculptures. In the late 20th century, 90 surviving statues were moved indoors, while modern replicas took their place in the park.

  18. the Mariinsky Theatre The Mariinsky Theatre is a historic theatre of opera and ballet in St Petersburg. Opened in 1860, it became the preeminent music theatre of late 19th century Russia, where many of the stage masterpieces of Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, and Rimsky-Korsakov received their premieres.
