  2. What is homelessness? • Rough sleeping • Sleeping in vehicles / unoccupied properties • Sofa surfing / vulnerably housed • At risk of eviction • Those in emergency accommodation • Homeless shelters

  3. Key issues • Mental health issues • Drug and alcohol misuse • Anti social behaviour • Rent arrears • Relationship breakdown • Ex offenders – prison release • Local housing allowance • Lack of affordable housing • Reluctance of landlords in PRS to rent to those unemployed • Revolving door cases • Entrenched rough sleepers • Fear of engaging to address issues

What we do – an end to end service • Outreach – support on the street • Day centre • Well-being / support • Pathway plans – identifying issues and actions to remove barriers • Link with services to meet need • Help to secure accommodation • Provision of 9 bed supported accommodation • Reconnection / interventions • Ongoing tenancy support

What can organisations do to help? • Attend the monthly Homeless Prevention Action Group • Build good working partnerships that are client and solution focused • Communicate issues early – for early interventions • Be pro-active and share information to reduce risks and barriers • Use information to manage cases rather than exclude

Services available in Harlow • Streets2Homes day centre Monday to Friday 8.45 - 2pm offering shower facilities, hot meal, clean clothes, safe and supportive environment, advice and practical help with benefits and housing, education, training and employability support. • Streets2Homes outreach Monday to Friday 9am-5pm street and home visits • Bromley Cottages a 9 bed therapeutic pathway centre • StreetLink • SWEP – Harlow Council • Chocolate Run – Sunday evening 6pm-8pm  • Helping Hands – Thursday 6pm-8pm  • Maybury drop Thursday 11am-4pm • St Pauls Church Tuesday and Friday 11am-4pm

How help can be accessed • Streets2Homes prefers self –referrals Often clients lead chaotic lifestyles – we tailor our services to meet their needs and create individualised pathway plans • Report rough sleepers directly to Streets2Homes – we have outreach services that can be responsive to reports of rough sleepers  • Report rough sleepers through StreetLink – Information will go to Local Authority who will inform our outreach team.
