LIBI Helps You Combat Your Learning Difficulties

The Academic Success Center at LIBI supports and helps the students with all sorts of learning difficulties they may encounter. They recognize that the students may need some additional help to comprehend certain material they may encounter in their classes. Whether the students are having problems with their math class, English, or having a difficult time comprehending a technical concept, additional help is available at the Academic Success Center for them. If you are struggling with a particular topic, speaking to your instructors or academic advisors will allow them to work with the Academic Success Center to secure additional help for you.

Course Specific and ESL Tutoring at LIBI • The Academic Success Center at LIBI supports and helps the students with all sorts of learning difficulties they may encounter. • They recognize that the students may need some additional help to comprehend certain material they may encounter in their classes. • Whether the students are having problems with their math class, English, or having a difficult time comprehending a technical concept, additional help is available at the Academic Success Center for them.

  3. ESL Tutoring • Long Island Business Institutehas developed a well-articulated and comprehensive ESL program covering all communication skills including grammar, writing, listening, reading, and speaking. • Audio-visual and computer-assisted and Internet- based learning resources are also available for ESL students. • The library maintains an extensive collection of vocabulary-level specific books, magazines, audiotapes, and DVDs/CDs for use by ESL students.

  4. The Conversation Club • The weekly conversation club at LIBI allows ESL students to practice their English in an instructor-led, organized, but informal setting. • The students are advised to speak to their assigned academic advisorto participate in or to obtain more information about the conversation club. • The students can also do so to avoid falling behind.

  5. Subject Specific Help • If you are struggling with a particular topic, speaking to your instructors or academic advisors will allow them to work with the Academic Success Center to secure additional help for you. • The Academic Success Center provides extensive tutorial and “extra-help” workshops to all students enrolled at LIBI. • One-on-one tutoring sessions with faculty in all course- related subjects are also available by appointment.
