Counting Money. To count coins, there are three things you should know…. The identity of each coin. The value of each coin. How to skip count by one, five, ten, or twenty-five. Penny. A penny has a picture of Abraham Lincoln on the front. He was our 16 th President.

  2. To count coins, there are three things you should know… The identity of each coin The value of each coin How to skip count by one, five, ten, or twenty-five

  3. Penny A penny has a picture of Abraham Lincoln on the front. He was our 16th President. On the back most commonly is a picture of the Lincoln Memorial found in Washington DC. A penny is worth 1₵

  4. Nickel A nickel has a picture of Thomas Jefferson on the front. He was our 4th President. On the back, most commonly, is a picture of the Monticello, the home of Jefferson in Virginia. A nickel is worth 5₵

  5. Dime A dime has a picture of Franklin Roosevelt on the front. He was the only four term President of the United States. On the back most commonly is a picture of a torch with an olive branch to the left and an oak branch to the right. The back reads, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (which means, "Out of many, one") A dime is worth 10₵

  6. Quarter A quarter has a picture of George Washington on the front. He was our 1st President. On the back most commonly is a picture of the Presidential Coat of Arms. (an eagle with outstretched wings) A quarter is worth 25₵

  7. Name the Coin… penny quarter dime nickel

  8. How much is it worth… 1₵ 25₵ 5₵ 10₵

  9. $1.00 50 25 75 There are four quarters in a dollar.

  10. 30 25 15 5 10 20 45 55 60 50 35 40 65 85 90 70 80 75 $1.00 95 There are twenty nickels in a dollar.

  11. 20 10 30 40 60 50 $1.00 90 80 70 There are ten dimes in a dollar.

  12. There are one hundred pennies in a dollar.

  13. Count the nickels… 5 20 15 10 30 25 30 cents
