  2. I-way is a growing statewide network, coordinated by CTAI, that connects people in Idaho to a mix of exciting transportation options, giving Idaho an economic and quality-of-life advantage, while helping keep our state clean and beautiful.

  3. Idaho’s Coordinated Mobility System Grass-roots mobility system featuring 17 local networks consisting of local leaders, users, providers, service agencies, and other stakeholders.

Value of I-way • Designed to Meet Unique Needs of Idaho Communities • Maintain Excellent Quality of Life in Idaho • Stimulate Local Economic Growth • Improve Access to Health Care, Work, School and Other Necessary Appointments • Provide Safe Transportation Options • Allow aging population to “Age in Place” • On-line Resource

  6. I-way Challenges • System Change is Difficult and Takes Time • Lack of Earmarks Funds in Coming Years • Many Local Communities Lack Tools for Obtaining Additional Local Revenue • Consider Implementing Recommendations of Governor’s Task Force for Modernizing Transportation Funding

  7. I-way Successes Statewide Programs and Coordination • Increased Ridership • Increased Participation of Local Communities • Implementation of Idaho’s online Rideshare tool • Completion of statewide bus stop inventory and review • Implementation of full-time District Mobility Managers

Local Partnerships and Coordination I-way Successes • Bannock MPO and Pocatello Regional Transit partnered to expand rural service • City of Dover created coalition of communities for new bus system • City of Ponderay voted for Resort City local option tax to fund public transportation between 4 cities • City of Moscow implemented Saturday service through USDA partnership

  9. Technology I-way Successes • Creation of www.i-way.org website • Development of Idaho’s 511 Transit system • Early phases of real-time updates on 511 Transit and electronic vehicle tracking

I-way In Action - Lewiston • Gap in service requiring individuals to walk across a bridge to access local transportation services. • Partnership developed between three transportation providers serving the Lewiston area: • Lewiston Transit System • Northwestern Trailways • Appaloosa Express • I-way “bridged” this gap for the consumer in this community.

  11. I-way and You! Engage in the conversations about mobility challenges in your area. Participate in the development of coordinated solutions. Facilitate community partnerships to leverage local resources. Connect with the mobility manager for your local network.
