  1. Cell Organelles

  2. Eukaryotic Has a nucleus Examples are: Skin cells Sex cells Prokaryotic Has no nucleus Examples are: Bacteria Blue green algae Two types of cells

  3. Plasma Membrane • The boundary of an animal cell. • Located just inside of the plant cells cell wall. • Regulates the movement of materials in and out of cells.

  4. Cytoplasma • Clear jelly-like substance that is always moving. • Many life functions are carried out here.

  5. NUCLEUS The nucleus controls and regulates the cells activities.

  6. Nucleolus • Located inside the cell’s nucleus this organelle contains the genetic material that dictates the cells function.

  7. Vacuoles • A storage facility for: • food, water, waste and other substances. • Often larger in plant cells than in animal cells.

  8. MITOCHONDRIA • Supplies most of the energy for cells.

  9. Endoplasmic Reticulum • Smooth-Endoplasmic reticulum contains enzymes for cell metabolism. • Rough- endoplasmic reticulum has dotted surface. It produces protein and transport them to various parts of the cell.

  10. Ribosomes • Small structures that float about freely and produces proteins for metabolic processes.

  11. Lysosomes • Round organelles that contain enzymes. • Found in animal cells, but have not been widely observed in plant cells. • Very helpful in destroying bacteria.

  12. Cell Wall • A non-living outermost structure of plant cells. • Provides protection and support for the cell.

  13. As you have just seen organelles help cells to maintain a quality of life, just as our organ system assist us in maintaining a quality life.

  14. You could say the cell is a mini-me!
