  3. Finding Your Way • Eratosthenes - First to calculate the circumference of Earth • Eratosthenes – latitude & longitude based on landmarks • Hipparchus – developed regular grid for latitude & longitude

  4. Finding Your Way • Ptolemy – oriented maps with east, right and north, top • Ptolemy – divided degrees into minutes & seconds
