  2. What was the Watergate Scandal?

  3. In June of ‘72 five people broke into the democratic national headquarters to tap their phones. • They found out these men were “Plumbers” (a secret group of former FBI and CIA agents that were strongly republican and were created by the whiter house to “fix leaks” ) • The plumbers were on the Committee to Re-Elect the President payroll

  4. Nixon wins the re-election with a landslidebut connections with the burglars and the white house republicans grew stronger • Senate finds out that Nixon tapes all of this oval office conferences, as people ask to see these videos Nixon refuses making him seem guilty • The Supreme Court ordered Nixon to hand the tapes over and he refused which led to the House of Representatives vote to impeach the president. • On August 8, 1974 Nixon Resigned.

  6. The Watergate scandal got its name from the Watergate hotel which is where the democratic national headquarters was located.
