What is the Naugatuck Police Explorers? • Part of the Boy Scouts of America • Provides a first hand look at the job of a law enforcement officer • Allows young men and women to see what it is really like to be a police officer • Makes young men and women better trained to protect and serve their community Naugatuck Police Explorer Post #882

  3. How do you join? • You must have completed the eighth grade and be 14 years of age, or be 15 years of age but have not yet reached your 21st birthday. • You must not have a poor criminal record • You must maintain at least a C average in school Naugatuck Police Explorer Post #882

What Does an Explorer Do? • Explorers attend weekly meetings where they participate in law enforcement training. • Training includes, but is not limited to: • Domestic Violence • Motor Vehicle law/stops • Accident Investigation & Reconstruction • Building Searches • Search and Seizure • MRT • CT General Statutes Naugatuck Police Explorer Post #882

What Does an Explorer Do? • Explorers assist the Police Department and Community by patrolling community events • Explorers assist with: • 4th of July Fireworks • Portugal Day & Sao Paio • Black Friday • Harvest Moon Festival • Senior Snow Removal • Many, Many More! What Does an Explorer Do? • Explorers can further their training by going on ride-alongs with police officers • Naugatuck has the unique privilege of allowing explorers to go on patrol with an officer for a shift. • This allows explorers to see what it is like to respond to any kind of call from a noise complaint to a physical domestic or a fatal motor vehicle accident Naugatuck Police Explorer Post #882
