1. Sihanoukville is to soon welcome its first shopping mall Furi Times Square Mall. The construction of Furi Times Square located near the Independence Monument Park in Sangkat Mitapheap, Sihanouvkille is scheduled to open by the end of 2019. Furi Times Square is the result of nearly US$10 million investment by the company and investors from Macau and Hong Kong. The mall will cover a total land area of about 12,000 square meters of which 40% will be public space. In addition, this four-story mall will have leasing space of up to 12,000 square meters comprising of popular international brands such as Levis, Samsonite as well as a Legend Cinema. The establishment of the mall is in line with the rapidly increasing development in Sihanoukville while the growth of international tourists, especially Chinese tourists continues to rise. In fact, according to the forecast by the Ministry of Tourism, Sihanoukville will receive about 2 million international tourists and about 3 million national tourists by 2030. 50% of the leasing area has already been occupied. MR. The mall will hold such amenities as food courts, bars, health and wellness centres, beauty salons, mini-marts and financial institutions. The development will also incorporate an integrated hotel to capture Sihanoukville’s growing popularity as Cambodia’s premier beach town. Given the country’s positive GDP growth of about 7 per cent annually, Cambodia’s economy remains vibrant and attractive to both local and foreign investors.
