Rules to Keep in Mind While Staying at a Sober Living Home

Transitioning into sober living after in-house detoxification treatment is a complex process. The medical detoxification program at a de-addiction center plays a vital role in bringing the individual to the stage of sober living. However, exposing the recovered individual to the open society will cause a relapse of the addiction because of several triggering factors. A halfway house in Alabama plays the role of a buffer to facilitate the smooth transition of the recovered individual into a sober person.<br>

You need a lot of courage and strength to endure both emotional and physical pain that comes along with the addiction treatment. After spending time at a residential treatment facility for your recovery Halfway House, you can't just go back to our old life. What you need is a sober living home that'll act as a transition home and help you ease back into your daily life. If you don't go through the process of transitioning, the chances of your relapse increase dramatically. Studies have shown that the chances of relapse increase to 75% during the first year of recovery if people don't seek assistance from a sober living facility. To ensure minimal chances of relapse, visit a sober house. Their sole purpose is to make sure that a recovering addict learns the ways of sober living and how to maintain abstinence during tough situations. They employ excellent support staff that encourages residents to attend AA meetings and follow the 12 step program. They also involve their residents into various sober living activities and teach them the ways with the help of spirituality, yoga, meditation etc. Here are a few rules and regulations that you need to follow: 1. Attend each and every community meeting assigned by the facility staff or your sober companions/coaches. 4. Show commitment towards the residence by performing residential chores and maintain the overall cleanliness of your surroundings. 5. Be a part of the community, meet new people and do your bit for the betterment of the community. Apart from these, there are few more rules and regulations that you need to keep in mind. Sober living facilities prohibit materials such as pornographic magazines and drug paraphernalia such as smoking pipes, alcohol flasks etc. You need to steer clear of anything that can cause or trigger a relapse. Fighting or engaging in sexual activity with other residents is also strictly prohibited. The goal of a sober living house is to provide a sober environment to their residents that can help them transition to a normal life outside the facility. Studies conducted on this shows that the controlled environment of these home can genuinely help a recovering addict. In sober living homes, a resident has an option to choose a sober coach for faster recovery. A sober coach can help by inspiring the residents with success stories and personal struggles. This type of support is unimaginable from family members and friends as they can never truly understand the struggles of an addict.
