Lab Instructors Negotiating Priorities Achievements • Internal parity for benefits • Criteria for advancement to Senior Lab Instructor • Expanded length of contract for prep time • Pension Plan inclusion • Retain current contract length for duration of contract • Honours degree no longer req’d • Masters degree or 8 yrs service for Senior LI • Senior LI vacancies filled first by internal competition • Language to limit additional duties becoming regularized

Language for All Achievements • Elimination of all references to mandatory retirement • Academic Freedom article in over-riding and identical language for all members • Employment Equity Policy • Pregnancy, Adoptive, Parental and Paternity Leaves • No changes in benefit coverage or cost sharing over life of agreement • Tuition benefit for children, spouse and member (new) – no waiting period • 26 articles moved to over-riding

Sample of concessions tabled by StFX (slide from November 4th) RECOGNITION • Consultation vs Agreement on university-wide policies TENURE • Post tenure review • Financial Exigency/Program Redundancy DISCIPLINE • University Discipline & Termination Policy (HR Policy #102) for all but faculty/librarians VACATION • Clinical Associates must take 1 week of their 4 week vacation during the Christmas break. RIGHT of RECALL • Loss of this right for PT Instructors, in cases where an instructor with superior qualifications is available
