  14. Recap • Overall Flow • Questions

  15. Brief a. QOD (NATOPS / EP / SOP) b. Low Alt Hazards c. Low Alt Emergencies d. Low Alt Section Maneuvering e. Low Alt Section Deconfliction f. Low Alt Flight Safety g. Nordo Procedures h. Display Management Demonstrate a. Section Target Attack Introduce a. Tactical Lead b. Tactical Wing c. Mutual Support Flight Brief

  16. Practice ONAV Planning Route Planning Interpret charts Recognize checkpoints Knowledge of route Communications Formation Combat Spread Check turns Shackle turns Cruise Turns Tactical Turns In-place turns Recovery to Pattern Landings Flight Brief

  17. Tac Lead Navigate flight Locate and select targets Communication – talk wing on to the target Formation maneuvering Tac Wing Lookout / Formation Navigation Attacks Responsibilities Return to Conduct

  18. Lead T: “Target off the nose, 8 miles, truck park.” Location Range Description “Check to Bracket” E: “Egress south, bracket the road” Use feature or heading if no feature available C: “I’ll take the vehicles, you take the road.” Contracts should be definable and less than ½ mile apart for geometry “Creeper 11 popping” “Creeper 11 in low” “Creeper 11 off low” Wing “Tally” “2” “2” “2” “Creeper 12 popping” “Creeper 12 in high, visual” or “Creeper 12 off high cover, visual / blind” “Creeper 12 off high, visual /blind” Target Comm (T-check-E-C) Return to Conduct

  19. Attack “Z” • IR-217 (add 1,000’ for IR-135) • Lead • Wing 6000’ 5500’ 30 4000’ 1200 Radalt’ (1500’ IR-135) 300 KIAS MRT 3000’ 3000’ 4nm 30/30 pop 7000’ 6500’ 30 5000’ MRT 1200 Radalt’ (1500’ IR-135) 300 KIAS 4000’ 4000’ 4nm 30/30 pop Return to Conduct

  20. POP Procedures • Attack • Throttle – MRT • Roll about 30° AOB to achieve roughly 30° heading Change • Pull 17 Units to 30° nose up • Roll wings level, maintain 30° up to place target at 10 / 2 O’clock Position. • Intercept the attack cone (target 2/3 of the distance from tip of pitot tube to wing tip), roll in, pull lift vector to target, set appropriate dive angle • Pickle at appropriate altitude • Recover Return to Conduct

  21. Target Area Contracts • Requirements: • Wing roll-in following lead “in” call and/or roll-in • Lead equal/greater than 30 degree dive • Wing equal/less 30 degree dive • High Cover if: • Blind on Lead • No-joy on target • Unable to roll in due to clouds • Initial dive angle greater than 35° • Off target geometry will significantly degrade mutual support (e.g. wing well forward of egress 3/9 line) • High Cover Execution: • Maintain minimum of 20 degree dive • Maintain MRT • With Lead in sight, descend to target altitude and project off target shackle position Return to Conduct

  22. Off Target • Recovery • Lead: initiate 2-3 ‘g’ recovery 500’ above contract altitude • Wing: initiate 4 ‘g’ recovery 1,000’ above contract altitude • Off Target • Ensure flight paths cross • Early turn / delay turn as necessary • If necessary, direct other aircraft Return to Conduct
