  1. Understanding Reverencefrom Everyday Things Heb 12:28, 29

  2. We Revere God Like No Other • Psalm 2:11 – “Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.” • Psalm 89:7,8 – “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those around Him. 8 O Lord God of hosts, Who is mighty like You, O Lord?”

  3. Revere God, more than You Would Honor an Employer • Eph 6:5,6 - “Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; 6 not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.” It’s not just finishing the task – It’s how you do it that counts. Work with Sincerity. Give God Your Best Effort! (Sigh.) Can’t you drag your feet at every command or grumble at each request?

  4. Revere God, more than You Would Honor the Aged Person • Lev 19:32 – “You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man . . .” • Proverbs 16:31 – “The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness.” More Life Experiences. More Losses. Honored God Longer. Endured Longer. Love God Because He Has Given So Much for You! (Sigh.) Do you really have to stand up for the old man? Do you have to call him “Sir”?

  5. Revere God, more than a Wife Honors a Husband • Eph 5:33 – “. . . and let the wife see that she respects her husband.” • Submission is “All right, I will do it, but (sigh) I may not like it.” • Respect by contrast cannot be forced: it is an attitude she chooses and shows. Respect Who God is. Then, respect what God requires of me. Serve God with Joy!

  6. Revere God, more than You Would Honor Your Parents • No Talking Back • Eph 6:2 – “‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise.” • Isaiah 45:10 – “Woe to him who says to his father, ‘What are you begetting?’ Or to the woman, ‘What have you brought forth?’” (Asking ‘why was I born’ is cursed behavior). Respect the God Who Disciplines Us Heb 12:9 Regard God Who tells you what to do.

  7. Respecting God is Respecting What He Says “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am the Father, where is My honor? And if I am a Master, where is My reverence?, says the Lord of hosts.” Malachi 1:6 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” Luke 6:46

  8. “‘For I am a Great King,’ says the LORD of Hosts, ‘and My Name is revered among the nations.’” Malachi 1:14
