WFP Initial EFSA Learning Session Objectives After this session, participants should be able to: • describe process of adapting master checklist for use in primary data collection • identify key stakeholder concerns to ensure necessary, sufficient primary data collection • adapt primary data collection tool for use in initial EFSA for particular hazard type in your country

  3. WFP Initial EFSA Learning Which primary data collection tools? • Standard Initial EFSA Checklist.doc (based on TGS # 6 Annex 1: SAMPLE CHECKLIST FOR PRIMARY DATA COLLECTION IN AN INITIAL EFSA) • Rapid Assessment Questionnaire – District & Community Focus Group primary data checklist

Adapting Primary Data Collection Checklist As a plenary group: • Identify key stakeholders and their information needs • Review checklist provided by your facilitators; agree on primary data collection needs • Revise checklist as needed for tomorrow’s interviews: to fill gaps, clarify inconsistencies, ensure stakeholder concerns are considered Remember: consider time constraints of Initial EFSA!!

  5. WFP Initial EFSA Learning Why do we need to adapt primary data collection tools? • Each disaster is different, with different needs • Different sets of secondary data will need verification/cross-checking; you may have to adapt primary data checklist accordingly

  6. WFP Initial EFSA Learning Adapting the Checklist • Clarify the objectives of the assessment: know why you are collecting the data • Understand the context of the assessment Crisis? Village? Camp? Settlement? Other? • Know to whom the questions are to be asked: Key Informant? Community Group? Household?
