  1. From Socialist via the Internal Market Towards Advocating for National (Market) Specifics prof. dr. Rajko Knez

  2. Comparing socialist approach with the IM economy The EU, together with the IM, has done a tremendous job in the worldwide sense... ....but, we struggle with problems and issues: • on general, the capital is wrongly disposed; • financial market (banks) demandsa substantialinvolvement of the MemberStates /EU; • ever increasing poorness; • exhaustion of the natural resources and devastating environment / climate change; • ... ... these are my starting points.

  3. On General... a consumption as a way of life... on the IM a system, which is based on theabused qoute: survival of the fittest (Herbert Spencer, 1864) systems, where crisis is paid by those who had not caused it systems, which was not looked ahead - in the future - more than a decade or so... the public expense will (have to) be more and more supervised

  4. Financial industry (banking etc) • (Over)Protective attitude towards financial economy...both systems failed • States, also the EU, are very protective... huge involvement of the state in the financial sector... • understood in the socialism, however, it is no different today on the IM • Hasthe EU takenoversocialism? EU states today are more involved in the market than ever... something that was a character of the socialism, is now a „normal“ part of the capitalism and the EU; • both systems also encurage indebtedness; • what kind of ideology? finance are good .... need not to be regulated... if finance are good, everybody is good...and people believe that, despite the fact that 97% of the money in the world is debt...

  5. Theenvironment... both systems failed • no economic value of the nature • exhaustion of the natural resources • permanent economic growth!!! also on account of the environment • loss of the farming land • „go green“ is more and more recognized in the EU • what is needed: • balanced development...with much less consumption of energy is needed (right know the human race use 2-5x time more nature that its possible on the long run • taxation of the natural resources instead of taxation of work... • preference to the local production... globalisation is not always needed • climate change figthing... EU is pretty much alone

  6. Workers and social aspects „go social“ is currently up to the MS, not the EU... poorness is growing substantial problem people are more and more unfortunate last 20-30 years, which coincide also with the growing consumption, left negative consequences to the families there are growing trend of injustice between the owners of companies and workers comparison that modern labour relationship is alike slavery is more and more present in the minds of the workers... it is only more temporary

  7. Conclusions for the proper working of the EU the IM is not enough...either the IM alone is the goal (going back to 1993, without EMU), or we need genuine economic and monetary union...and a capitalism (or whatever system) with different rules... some taken out of the socialism on the other hand a common green and social approach are needed (also OECD recommendations) „go green“ (in all respects) shall contain an important national market specifics (as mandatory requirement or overriding reason in public interests)
