  4. About the Pre K Teachers Hi my name is Suzanne Baty. I have just arrived from Australia. I have my Masters in Education and Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood. I have one son who lives in Melbourne. I have been teaching Kindergarten Children for many years. I have taught in New Zealand, London, Australia, Hanoi, Abu Dhabi and now here in Ho Chi Minh City. I enjoy working with young children, as I find them refreshing, honest and inquisitive. I love to see them develop in their early years, both socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. Hi my name is Uyen Phuong. I graduated from Ho Chi Minh University of Foreign Language and Information Technology. Now I am studying Master program in teaching. I used to work at VUS Language Center as TA over one year, and I used to be a Vietnamese teacher at Singapore International School. I love young children, and I like working with them. I find that they are really cute and innocent. That’s the reason why I choose and love this job. Hi my name is Thuy Lien. I live and work in Ho Chi Minh city. I worked at International Hospital eight years ago and I have worked at American International School for six years. I worked at Pre-K class two years ago and now this is the third year I work at Pre-K. For me, the children are innocent , and I think that the teachers will be the best leaders for the children.

  5. The Framework puts children’s learning at the core and comprises three inter-related elements:

  6. Principals Secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships :-By providing constant emotional support, educators can assist children to develop the skills and understanding they need to interact positively with others. Partnerships:-Educators work in partnership with families, they recognize that families are children’s first and most influential teachers. High expectations and equity:- Early childhood educators believe that all children are capable to succeed regardless of diverse circumstances and abilities. Respect for diversity:-Children are born to a culture, which is not only influenced by traditional practices, heritage and ancestral knowledge, but also by the experiences, beliefs of individual families. Ongoing learning and reflective practice:-Reflective practice is a form of ongoing learning that involves engaging with questions of philosophy, ethics and practice.

  7. Practice Holistic Approaches:-Holistic approaches to teaching and learning recognize the connectedness of mind, body and spirit. Responsiveness to children:-Educators are responsive to all children’s strength’s, abilities and interests. Learning Through Play:-Play provides opportunities for children to learn as they discover, create, improvise and imagine. Intentional Teaching:-Intentional teaching is deliberate, purposeful and thoughtful. Learning environment:- Environments are welcoming spaces , they support learning and are responsive to the interest and abilities of each child. Cultural Competence :- View culture and the context of family as central to children’s sense of being and belonging and to success in lifelong learning. Continuity of learning and transitions:- In partnerships with parents, educators ensure that children have an active role in preparing for transitions. Assessment for Learning:-It is the process of gathering and analyzing information as evidence about what children can do and understand. Through observations, and pieces of work. These are placed in the child’s portfolio, and made available to both children and parents.

  8. Learning Outcomes:- The five Learning Outcomes are designed to capture the integrated and complex learning and development of all children across the five age range: The outcomes are: Children have a strong sense of identity Children are connected and contribute to their world Children have a strong sense of wellbeing Children are confident and involved learners Children are effective communicators.
