Using colors, shade each temperature range a different color. • 30s = purple • 40s = blue • 50s = green • 60s = yellow • 70s = orange • 80s = red 4. Make a temperature/color key. (Copy the above key onto the front of the map.)

Questions • How do the isotherm help you to understand what weather is like in different parts of the country? • How might this be useful in forecasting the weather conditions in a particular area? • What patterns can you see in temperatures? Where is it typically warmer? Where are the temperatures typically cooler? • What reasons can you think of to explain the temperature patterns you notice?
