  5. Strengthening Families • Moving families and individuals beyond poverty; facilitating support groups to empower victims to regain control of their lives; providing assistance to abused women and their children

Strengthening Families • Assists approximately 500 residents in Lee County a month with computer access and personal one-on-one assistance including translation and support to apply for ACCESS, unemployment and job assistance. • Sponsor’s Salud de la Mujer, a 10 week Women’s class in Spanish on the subject of personal empowerment, women’s health issues and abuse information. • Partners with Dr. Piper center to bring resume and job support weekly to residents. • Partners with Rotary bringing over 350 back packs to neighborhood children and ACT with back to school supplies annually through our “End of Summer Fling”

Strengthening Families • Due to funding our Pre-School program which we partnered with Children’s Home Society has been cut this provided one day a week free preschool instruction. • We have lost our English Literacy Weekly class due to teacher availability within our partnership with Lee County Literacy Volunteers, with funding we can sustain English literacy class weekly. • We are in discussion with Literacy Volunteers regarding a GED program for the community with additional funding.

  9. Nurturing Children and Youth • Ensuring a quality early childhood education opportunity for all children; providing mentoring programs for youth; providing at-risk youth with programs to build and strengthen their character

Nurturing Children and Youth • PMIA Teen Hope program provides homework assistance, mentoring, athletics and community service projects to approximately 25-30 teens between the ages of 11 and 17 in Pine Manor. • Partnership with Children’s Advocacy Center provides homework assistance and after school care to approximately 30 children between the ages of 6 and 11. • Partnership with YMCA bringing scholarships to children and families in Pine Manor.

  13. Meeting Critical Needs • PMIA Monthly Food Pantry provides from 600 to 1000 Lee County residents emergency food assistance

Empowering Communities • Pine Manor Improvement Association organizing and mobilizing the Pine Manor community; through partnerships with Lee County Human Services, Dr. Piper Center, Children’s Advocacy Center, YMCA, Lee County Sheriff, Sunrise Rotary, South Rotary, Sanibel Rotary, South Trail Fire Department, Teen Challenge & local churches and synagogues to bring health and human services to Pine Manor Neighborhood connecting providers and residents through local partnerships and events.

A Few final facts • Pine Manor Teen Hope serves 25 children 4 days a week ages 11-17 • Pine Manor After school program serves 30 children 5 days a week ages 6-11 • Our Christmas adopt a child program is for families living in Pine Manor who have volunteered their time in the community at a minimum of 25 hours. • Each month at Pine Manor Community Center we serve from 1500-2500 residents in Lee County with direct services or referrals including: • job assistance, resume assistance and computer access. • A monthly food bank where residents shop for their supplies. • a referral source to other services in our community. • providing over 350 back packs and back to school supplies to children who would not be prepared for school. • Our residents have given back over 3,600 volunteer hours to the Pine Manor community in the last year
