  4. RUBY’S MOM GOT NIGHT JOBS TO GET THE FAMILY FOOD

  5. A judge said that black children and white children had to go to same schools .

  6. Ruby took a test along with 360 other black kids. If they passed, they would go to an integrated school.

  7. Only six children passed the test. Ruby was one them.

  8. Ruby was assigned to William Frantz Public School in New Orleans. The white people in the neighborhood were very angry.

  9. Federal marshallshad to escort Ruby to school because people were making threats to hurt her. She spent her first day alone in the principal’s office.

  10. Ruby published the book See Through My eyes in 1995. All the black kids read the book.

  11. Ruby said, “Don’t follow the path. Go where there is no path and start a trail.”

  12. RUBY • I had got married and had 4 sons, so now she has a big family.
