  2. 5-Minute Warm-Up OBJECTIVE: I will be able to define mass and explain the concept of inertia. Mass and weight are often considered to be the same thing, but they are not. How do you think they might be different?

  3. Mass & Inertia • Inertia is a measure of how resistant an object is to changes in its motion • Mass is the amount of matter an object contains. It is also the measurement of inertia. • If an object has more mass… • It has more inertia… • Which means it is more resistant to changes in motion • IF nothing ever acts on an object, its motion will never change. • Forces are the cause of changes in motion. Without forces, inertia keeps motion constant.
