Pericles, ruled Athenian politics and culture from 462 - 429 *(timeline) • He influenced the re-building of the Acropolis, ruined in 480 BCE *(timeline) in Persian War, and turned it into the center of civic and religious life • As Pericles perfected the city-state, artists tried to perfect their practice.
