  1. > I have apache 1.3.6 (new download) and Mailman 1.0b11. When I

  2. > config the list to replace the From field in mail to be the list, it doesn't

  3. > do it. The From field is still the individual sender. I'm talking about

  4. > individually mailed messages to each member on my test list. I'm glad it

  5. > works for you. I'm using an SGI, IRIX 6.2. There may be something very

  6. > funky about the SGI supplied sendmail. It won't even give a version number.

  7. > Anyone else run into problems on SGI?

  8. When you say 'From field', do you mean the header that looks like

  9. From: test2-admin@ncsa.uiuc.edu

  10. or

  11. From test2-admin@ncsa.uiuc.edu Sat Apr 10 00:48:53 1999

  12. (basically, the envelope sender or the From: header)?

  13. I can try installing it on one of the Octanes or O2s that we've got

  14. here over the weekend or early next week to see if the problem is

  15. Irix specific or not (unless someone out there wants to save me

  16. a lot of work and has this working under Irix 6.2).

  17. > > You need to allow access to the CGI scripts for the Web interface to

  18. > > work, but that's it (replace $prefix with your installation directory).

  19. > >

  20. > [Nicholson James D] I assure you that those commands don't solve

  21. > the problem.

  22. > Anything else that you've done custom, for instance, by loading

  23. > certan modules which aren't

  24. > loaded by the default configuration?

  25. We have some features here and at my company (both use Apache and Mailman)

  26. that are extra like SSI, but nothing too exciting. But just for

  27. giggles, I went ahead and installed a virgin Apache 1.3.6 on another machine

  28. (as auto-generated by the ./configure script in the Apache source). I

  29. only made the following changes to my system (Linux 2.0.36):

  30. o NFS-mounted /home/staff/mailman as /home/staff/mailman

  31. o Added passwd/group entries for mailman

  32. o Changed nobody uid/gid to 65534 to match mailman settings

  33. Then I added these directives to httpd.conf *exactly* as they appear

  34. below.

  35. <Directory />

  36. Order deny,allow

  37. Deny from all

  38. </Directory>

  39. <Directory /home/staff/mailman/cgi-bin/>

  40. Allow from all

  41. Options SymLinksIfOwnerMatch ExecCGI

  42. </Directory>

  43. ScriptAlias /mailman/ /home/staff/mailman/cgi-bin/

  44. Everything was peachy. So it's either an Irix thing, or something is

  45. funky with your Mailman or Apache configuration.
