  1. Drawing Near To God

  2. Psalm 73:25-28  25 Whom have I in heaven but You?         And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. 26 My flesh and my heart fail;But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  27 For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish;         You have destroyed all those who desert You for harlotry. 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God;         I have put my trust in the Lord GOD,          That I may declare all Your works.

  3. How Do We Draw Near To God? Matthew 15:7-9 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:        8 ‘ Thesepeopledraw near to Me with their mouth,And honor Me withtheirlips,But their heart is far from Me.       9 And in vain they worship Me, Teachingasdoctrines the commandments of men.’” Hebrews 7:18-19 For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, 19 for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand,there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

  4. When we draw near to God, we draw: • Away from ourselves.

  5. Out Of Self 1 Corinthians 6:20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. Acts 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

  6. When we draw near to God, we draw: • Away from ourselves. • Away from the world.

  7. Away From The World 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

  8. When we draw near to God, we draw: • Away from ourselves. • Away from the world. • Near one another.

  9. Near One Another 2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ,To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, Acts 4:32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

  10. When we draw near to God, we draw: • Away from ourselves. • Away from the world. • Near one another. • Away from doubts and fears.

  11. Away From Doubts And Fears Matthew 26:58 But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end. Romans 14:23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin. Matthew 14:29-31 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

  12. Away From Doubts And Fears Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Romans 8:31b If God is for us, who can be against us? Hebrews 10:22a let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,

  13. When we draw near to God, we draw: • Away from ourselves. • Away from the world. • Near one another. • Away from doubts and fears. • God near us.

  14. God Near Us James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded Acts 17:27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;

  15. Draw Near To God Today! • Have Faith – John 6:47 He who believes in Me has everlasting life. • Repent of your sins – Acts 17:30 • Confess Jesus Before Men – Romans 10:10 • Be Baptized – Galatians 3:26-27 • Be Faithful – Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
