  1. Spiritual Dangers of Busyness • Much of our busyness is the result of embracing the world’s way of life. • Our busyness silences God’s voice from being heard. • Our self-imposed busyness causes much of the anxiety and worry in our lives.

  2. The Faces of Pride in Our Busyness • We are too busy seeking the pleasure and praise of people instead of seeking the blessings and glory of God. Colossians 3:23 - Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

  3. The Faces of Pride in Our Busyness 2) We are too busy seeking the pity and sympathy of people instead of seeking the mercies of God. Lamentations 3:22-23 - The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

  4. The Faces of Pride in Our Busyness 3) We are too busy living in the tyranny of the urgent because we refuse to take the time to prayerfully plan and submit our lives to the Lord’s will. Philippians 4:6 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

  5. The Faces of Pride in Our Busyness 4) We are too busy seeking our identity in ‘things’ rather than resting in who we are in Christ. Galatians 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

  6. Questions to Consider • Why are you busy? • Are you busy trying to find satisfaction in some accomplishment? • Are you trying to do good in order that you might look good to others?

  7. Questions to Consider • Are you bringing everything to the Lord in prayer? • Are you resting in who you are in Christ Jesus and the good you do, you do for his glory whether anyone notices or not.
