Create a slogan or brand--think “outside of the box” --be bold--easily recognizable--design a poster for public & board Enlist “free” or low cost advertising --seek help from local colleges or technical schools (Athens Tech marketing class created bookmarks as student project, UGA Freshman Forum help with public awareness campaign)

  6. Look to partner with groups with high visibility & proven track record--local school district (Head Start, Office of Early Learning )--library--Goodwill (Career Center clients)--other non-profits (Wee Read’s, Books for Keeps)

  11. Organization • Plan • Set goals • Monetary • # of teams • Develop • Task list & time line • Meeting timeline • Assignment of responsibilities • Venue criteria • Budget • Publicity plan using multiple media formats: local cable, local radio, website, social media

  12. Organization • Coordinate • Sponsorship solicitations • Cash • In-kind (Food, Auction Items, Décor, etc.) • Team recruitment/registration • Ticket sales • Track Progress • Regularly communicate with your Board & volunteers • Keep teams updated on fundraising levels

Creativity • Brainstorm • Target items for silent auction • Package items into appealing “lots” for silent auction • Develop fun & interesting descriptions of each lot. • “I’m Doing Me” Package Massage, mani/pedi and lunch at local café • “Pampered Pooch ” featuring a dog collar, dog bowl & wash/dry • “Get Out of The Dog House”—wine, flowers, steakhouse dinner

  14. Assessment/Follow-Up Debrief • Evaluate -- what worked? --what didn’t work? --what needs improving? (ex. Silent auction payment process, publicity, etc.) • “Thank You’s” --prepare letter for “ALL” donors & sponsors --write individual notes to biggest sponsors, judges, & volunteers

  15. Combine ingredients. Mix well. Serves an awesome crowd. Enjoy plenty of fun, fellowship, and fantastic fundraising festivities!
