  2. Community Pillar – State Chairmen • Global Wheelchair Mission – Bro. Francisco Naar, • Habitat for Humanity – Bro. Brendan Saunders, • Basketball Free Throw - Bro. Anthony Viresi, • Coats for Kids – Bro. Neil Bouvier, • Ontario Substance Abuse Poster Contest: Bro. Jean-Claude Legault; • Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest – Bro. Nat Gallo • Hockey Challenge - Bro. Jim Monkelbaan, • Soccer Challenge - Bro. Jim Monkelbaan, • Helping Hands – Bro. Dennis Keefe.

  3. Purposes To provide; • Additional web information for roles within the Community Portfolio, • Contact information of Ontario state and Supreme reps, • Target dates for DD action items.

  4. 1/9: Global Wheelchair Mission • A well-established program already in place, • Wheelchairs were delivered to Costa Rica in late June 2019.

  5. 2/9: Habitat for Humanity • Councils are asked to donate a minimum of $1,000 or 200 service hours to projects in their community, • A featured program, Habitat for Humanity counts for two credits toward the Columbian Award.

  6. 3/9: Basketball Free Throw Championship • A well-established program already in place, • An information package is available; Competition Dates • Council: January 26, 2020, • District/Regional: February 16, 2020, • State: March 8, 2020, • All Kits will now need to be ordered through Supplies Online which can be accessed in the Officers Portal…please get you GK or FS to order the kits for you in August to be ready for the start of school in Sep.

  7. 4/9: Coats for Kids • A well-established program already in place, • Being supported by the General Agents.

  8. 5/9: Ontario Substance Abuse Poster Contest • No longer supported by Supreme. However, this is being continued in Ontario under the authority of the State Deputy, • Gives boys and girls aged 8 to 17 years, an opportunity to put on paper using creative and artistic talents, what they perceive are the results of abusing alcohol or drugs for awareness of the dangers by their peers, • Age groups; 8-10; 11-13; 14-17 in both the drug and alcohol categories, • Entries are judged at each level of the contest for; ( a ) Slogan ( b ) Artistic value ( c ) Overall Impact.

  9. 5/9: Free Throw Championship Action Items: • Please send me the contact information for Regional Chairman and District Chairman’s contact information before August 1, 2019, • We will again be including 15 to 17 year olds in our competition this year throughout all 4 levels within Ontario, and, • Order Basketball Freethrow Kits by using; https://ontariokofc.ca/programs/youth/free-throw-soccer-challenge/

  11. 7/9: Soccer Challenge An information package is available; Competition Target Dates: • Council: Spring 2019 or (Fall) Sep. 2019 • District: Oct. 2019 • State: Nov. 2019 Action Items: • Order Kits (SC-KIT and SC-KIT-F), • Promote Council and District soccer competitions.

  13. 8/9: Hockey Challenge • An information package is available; Deadlines: • Council: Anytime but not later than end March 2020, • District: Anytime but not later than 10 Apr 2020, • Region: Not later than 28 April 2020, • State: 30 April 2020.
