  1. COMPLETE YOUR BRIDAL ATTIRE WITH A LONG MANGALSUTRA Which jewellery immediately comes into our mind the moment you think about jewellery and marriage ceremonies? In India, the answer can't be something other than a mangalsutra. In the meantime when women carefully consider jewellery in order to make a fashion statement, there is only mangalsutra which is exempted from going against fashion trends in India. It holds such a special value in our society solely because of its cultural and religious roots. However, even our traditional long mangalsutra designhas also experienced some changes throughout the years but it still hasn't lost significance in our society and it continues to be of tremendous moral and ethical value. What is a Mangalsutra? The word 'Mangalsutra' is made up of two words which are 'mangal' and 'sutra'. The word 'mangal' means auspicious or prosperous and 'sutra' literally translates to a thread – by combining these two words you get ' an auspicious thread which unites two souls ' and the meaning becomes something much deeper than one would expect. According to Hindu tradition, the groom ties a short or long mangalsutra around the bride’s neck on the day of their wedding. Binding mangalsutra on such a holy day signifies that their relationship would become as auspicious as the thread. The Significance of a Mangalsutra The Mangalsutra symbolises that the couple will remain mates for life until death separates them. A mangalsutra is inseparable from an Indian marriage and it's an ornament that a bride has to wear for her remaining lifetime. This gesture represents the love and affection the couple have towards each other. However, the method of knotting a long and short mangalsutravaries from region to region. For example - In the southern parts of India people believe that the mangalsutra should be tied in 3 knots. These numbers aren't randomly determined because each knot symbolizes something -the first knot represents loyalty towards the husband, the second one shows dedication towards the family, and the third

  2. one is devoted to the lord. Also in some parts of our country, the first knot is tied by the husband as usual but the remaining two knots are tied by the groom's family. It is a popular belief that the black beads of the mangal sutra bring good luck, fortune and fertility to the married couple's life. Nowadays buying a mangalsutra isn't a tedious task anymore because you can easily find a plethora of incredible mangalsutra online. In conclusion, we can confidently say that a Hindu marriage without a mangalsutra is incomplete.
