  3. Introduction: Scenario • Ms Diouf and herfamily, originallyfromSenegal, nowreside in the small rural community of Clair, in the northwest of NB. Ms Diouf has a strongfamilyhistory of cancer and shewouldlike to know what to do to stayhealthy. • Q1: Whatwouldyousuggest to Ms Diouf? • Q2: How do youthink the Partnershipcould help Ms Diouf?

  4. Our beginnings 1993 – 1998 • The Atlantic Breast Cancer Information Project (ABCIP) was one of five projectsfunded by Health Canada Mandate of the project: • To improveaccess to up-to-date accuratebreast cancer information through the development of partnerships

  5. Provincial Partnership 1998-1999 The projectadopted a new mandate and provincial partnershipswerecreated New Brunswick Breast Cancer Information Partnership Inc. (NBBCIP)

  6. Goals of NBBCIP • Improve communication amongbreast cancer relatedorganizations and institutions withIN NB • Share expertise and resources in order to develop effective and sustainable information deliverystategies, particularly for newlydiagnosedwomen

  7. Need to expand to otherwomen’s cancer.. 2010 • Creation of the New Brunswick Breast and Women’s Cancer Partnership • Includes: Breast, ovarian, cervical and uterine cancer

Our vision • An innovativebilingualPartnershipthat influences a shift toward a health promotion philosophy, so the focus on cancers unique to womenwillbeapproached in the context of women’shealth • NB willbe a province whereeverywomendiagnosedwithbreast or reproductive cancer knowswhere to find information and support.

  9. Our Mission • To empowerwomenwith or atrisk for breast, cervical, uterine or ovarian cancer • To enhancetheirquality of life through the provision of accessible support duringtheir cancer journey.
