  3. Events and Actions • June 2008 • Launch Tesco Alliance • Agreement on purpose, goals and commitments • Sept 08 – May 09 • Research, Compilation Country reports (Korea, Thailand, US) • Outreach to local management and Tesco HQ directly and via Usdaw (home union) • Escalation of US conflict

  4. Events and Actions • November 08 • « Change to win » support for Turkey organising strategy • June 2009: • Alliance Meeting Izmir • Research into Turkey country reports begins • June 2009: UNI launches country reports (Korea, Thailand, US) in London • July 2009: • UFCW attends AGM

Events and Actions • October 2009: • Alliance meeting in Dublin • UNI Organising support for Korea begins • November 2009 - January 2010 • Survey among alliance members on local law and organisational strength • Update country reports and report on Usdaw – Tesco partnership agreement • March 2010 • Alliance meeting, Liverpool

  6. Results • Thailand • Tesco Lotus replaced CEO; new CEO reached out to union and UNI Apro. • Company is regularly meeting the union; some improvements to health&safety issue • Together with UNI Apro discussion, how to best support the union in their outreach to the stores.

  7. Results • Korea • Union has started organising drive • Monthly organising reports • Member and activist growth expected over the next months • Turkey • Tez-Koop-Is has won majority • Welcome for government decision to coincide with AGM (Fri, 2 July)
