BEFORE THE REVOLUTION AFTER THE REVOLUTION • Louis XVI was king • Abused his power • High taxes on the poor (Third Estate) • Lavish lifestyle: lived in a palace, waged costly wars • No longer a monarchy, but a Republic • Napoleon assumes control & provides stability • Estates, or social classes, all get a say in the government FRENCH REVOLUTION

BEFORE THE REVOLUTION AFTER THE REVOLUTION • Populations increasing • Mostly a problem in poor, developing nations • New strains of grains developed to produce more food • It worked, BUT costs money (fertilizers) & water. • Did not help all the poor countries that needed it most. GREEN REVOLUTION
