RCIF Consolidation GECU: El Paso, Texas (TX51) GECU (TX51) • Member-owned not-for-profit financial cooperative (aka: Credit Union) • Located in El Paso, Texas • Chartered on August 30, 1932 under the name of Federal Employees Credit Union of El Paso • Federal (Civil Service) employees • 1967: added family member of Civil Service employees • 1997: expanded to anyone living or working in El Paso County that is not eligible for membership at another credit union through occupation • 2005: expanded into the state of New Mexico –within 25 mile radius of a branch located close to the Texas/New Mexico border • May, 1933 became Government Employees Credit Union • January 1973 name change to Government Employees Credit Union of El Paso • October 2005 name change to GECU and adopted “Greater Employees Credit Union” as a marketing tagline • In hopes of better describing our field of membership • 303,728 Members (March 2013) • 679 employees (March 2013) • $2 Billion + in assets (February 2013: 2,000,421,000.00 Two Billion 421 Thousand)

RCIF Consolidation GECU: El Paso, Texas (TX51) Customer Records @ Miser Datasets • CIF Key (CFK) • The CIF Key is used as a two-way pointer record used to link customer/member information to account information, and account information to customer information. • It is also used to store customer/member to customer/member relationship records identified by application code 30 (RCIF). • Each field begins with prefix CFK-.

RCIF Consolidation GECU: El Paso, Texas (TX51) Customer Records @ Miser Dupresolver Reports • CFM-TAX-ID-TYPE (29) • Field that identifies the value in CFM-TAX-ID-NBR • Values are: • 0 = Social Security Number (SSN) (certified) • 1 = Employer Identification Number (EIN) (certified) • 2 = Social Security Number (SSN) (noncertified) • 3 = Employer Identification Number (EIN) (noncertified) • 4 = Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) (certified) • 5 = Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) (noncertified) • 6 = No Tax Identification Number • 7 = Tax Identification Number applied for

  11. RCIF Consolidation GECU: El Paso, Texas (TX51) CFD061: Duplicate Suspects Report • Report identifies duplicate suspects when: • Add New Customer To Account (NC1) is processed • Customer Maintenance (CM1) is processed • Printed in Customer Number sequence

  12. RCIF Consolidation GECU: El Paso, Texas (TX51) GECU Process for RCIF Consolidation Pull the CFD061 • Pull the Customer profile (CPR) • Compare the following: • Customer Type • Date of Birth • TIN Number • TIN Type • TIN Certification • Employee Code

RCIF Consolidation GECU: El Paso, Texas (TX51) • Compare information between the two RCIF records • If duplicates don’t have a Tax ID Number, confirm they have foreign status- W8 on file • CFM-CERT-TYPE (If Foreign, procedures indicate should have a value = 1 (Form W-8BEN filed) • Take note of Date of Birth on both records • Tax Certification: • Must match between records • If one record reflects certified, this is indication proper documentation has been signed and can FM RCIF record (non-certified one) to reflect findings of certification • If do not have Tax ID and/or Certification • Date of Birth • Must match • If does not, pull Membership paperwork from Cold Storage to confirm if system input is accurate. Update accordingly and assure both records match

RCIF Consolidation GECU: El Paso, Texas (TX51) • Perform the Customer Maintenance transaction to match records • The OLDEST RCIF record will be retained • Update to most current data • Match the following • Customer Type • TIN Number • TIN Type • TIN Certification • Employee Code • Perform the Consolidate Customers (CCR) transaction • Select the OLDEST as the survivor • Input RCIF number for both records

  15. RCIF Consolidation GECU: El Paso, Texas (TX51) • To assure the documents imaged under the deleted (merged) RCIF get re-imaged correctly, complete the Image Re-File form

RCIF Consolidation GECU: El Paso, Texas (TX51) GECU’s Challenges • RCIF records created by large amount of employees • Geographical location – increase of Foreign RCIF records (No TAX ID) • Name duplication • Multiple members with same name • Maria Hernandez • Juan Gonzalez • Main reason we do not utilize the CFR001 Duplicate Resolver Program
