  1. 7 Tips to Help Ease Toothache at Home

  2. Help Ease Toothache at Home • A toothache can cause mild to severe pain. The best thing to do is to see your dentist immediately. • Your dentist will check the area, determine the cause of the pain, and recommend a solution. • However, if you can't get in to the dentist right away, there are things that you can do at home to help ease discomfort you're feeling.

  3. Here Are Some Important Tips to Help Ease Toothache at Home:

  4. Use Cold Compress • Apply a cold pack on the side of your cheek where the affected tooth is. • This will also help contain or prevent any swelling from worsening.

  5. Rinse with Warm Saltwater • Rinse your mouth with warm saltwater. • This will help remove any food debris or particle that may have been stuck between teeth or on cavities. • The saltwater mixture will also help remove bacteria on the area and serve as an antiseptic.

  6. Take OTC Pain Relievers • If you're not allergic to pain relievers, you can also take one to help ease the pain but you have to be careful with using NSAID or Non-Steriodal Anti-Inflamatory Drugs as they have some serious side effects. • Google their side effects and see if you are willing to take the risk.

  7. Brush and Floss • Until you can see your dentist, it's important to keep your mouth, especially the affected area, clean. • Brush and floss gently, covering all areas of your mouth. Pay attention to gaps and holes.

  8. Record Your Pain • Take note when the pain started, the type of pain you're feeling, and how severe it is. Write down as well any triggers, such as specific food or drink, or movements.

  9. Cover Jagged Tooth • If, in any case, you have a painful broken tooth, cover the edge with a gauze. • This will prevent the broken tooth from wounding your tongue or cheeks.

  10. Contain Bleeding • If there's any bleeding, use pressure to contain it. If you have a knocked out tooth, try to put the tooth back into the socket. • If it doesn't work, keep the tooth moist. Place it in a container with milk or saliva. • Don't forget to bring the tooth to your dental visit.
