Unit summary • The purpose of this unit plan is for children with ADHD to learn how to spell a word using body movements. • This will make them participate and give their undivided attention inside the classroom. • This will be a great help for special educators in handling children with ADHD.

  3. Student Objectives/Learning Outcomes • The students will be able learn how to spell basic words at the same time will be able to exercise their body. • The students are expected to learn more vocabulary words through spelling. • The students will be able to see the importance of learning in a happy and enjoyable way.

  4. Curriculum-Framing Questions Essential Question How can a child with ADHD learn how to spell a word in a unique way? Unit Questions • How can body movements help in making a child with ADHD participate in learning how to spell? • What are the ways of teaching spelling for a child having ADHD? • Why is body movement essential for a child with ADHD? Content Questions • What are the types of words used in the spelling? • Do these words contribute to the vocabulary words of the students? • How will this spelling activity be meaningful to students?

  5. Instructional Procedures The teacher will instruct the students to stand up and move around. Bringing movement to the lesson will bring excitement into learning basic words. The following are alternate activities prepared for the students: • An instructional material which is useful for developing spelling skills is to be provided by the teacher • A film viewing that would help the students enhance their cognitive skills • Jump up and down while spelling out words • Use a ball to bounce out the letters • Have a free dance while everyone spells the same word together • With the use of their body, they will spell out the words.

  6. Materials and Resources Required For the Unit • DVD Player • Television • Printed Materials • Lecture Book • Story Books for children • Supplies • pictures/images to be spelled
