  2. About prescription drugs… • Most people take medicines only for the reasons their doctors prescribe them. But an estimated 20% of people in the United States have used prescription drugs for nonmedical reasons, this is prescription drug abuse.

  3. Narcotic drugs • Narcotics are pain killers that if you take them too much it could be fatal • Oxycodone is a nervous system depressant, It slows down the nervous system responses, this includes respiratory and analgesia • The 2004 Survey on Drug Use revealed that 3,000,000 people over the age of 11 had tried it for a nonmedical purpose.

  4. Stimulant drugs • Stimulant drugs increase our alertness and energy for a quick moment then you’re back down. Making you want to take another. • Fastin- Phentermine is an appetite suppressant that affects the central nervous system making you loose weight very fast. • 2-5 young women use weight loss pills

  5. Depressant drugs • Depressants have effects to your body that are similar to alcohol • Xanax- is a sleeping pill that can put you in a deep sleep in heavy doses. It can also put you in a coma or even kill you • Depressants can be addictive, especially if miss used • 1 in 10 adults have trouble sleeping and use sleeping pills to help sleep

  6. Anxiety drugs • Anxiety drugs can help with many types of things, but they don’t fix them. It also is very easily to get addicted to Anxiety pills • Valium- is used to relieve anxiety, muscle spasms, and seizures and to control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal. • 40 million people in the U.S. will experience an impairment because of an anxiety condition this year.
