  4. Uh-Oh here comes war! • Churchill came to power at a time when all of Britain's allies had fallen and all they had left to depend on was themselves. France had already been overrun by Nazi Germany. • He rallied the nation to defeat Germany in the Battle of Britain, strengthened the royal navy and air force, and sent troops to the middle east to battle the axis powers. • Even though he believed in democracy and held communism in contempt he accepted communist Russia as an ally to help defeat the axis forces.

Uh-Oh here comes war! • Through his confidence in American forces, even though they had a policy to get involved in WWII doing anything short of war, he convinced them to get involved in the war to defeat Germany once and for all. • Three days after the war was won Winston Churchill lost his office as primer because the labor party lost popularity. He sat in office from 1940-1945. (WWII was from 1939 to 1945)
