  41. “Paul’s Long Journey to Rome”Acts 21-28 (Part 2) All Scriptures quotes in the New International Version

  42. “Paul’s Long Journey to Rome” Acts 21-28 Introduction Today, we conclude our study of Acts by examining Paul’s appearances before various authorities and his final journey to Rome where he would await an audience with Caesar.

  43. “Paul’s Long Journey to Rome” Acts 21-28 Paul before Governor Felix Acts 24:24-27 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus. As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.” At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him. When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, but because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews, he left Paul in prison.

  44. “Paul’s Long Journey to Rome” Acts 21-28 Paul Appealed to Caesar before Festus Acts 25:9-12 Festus, wishing to do the Jews a favor, said to Paul, “Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and stand trial before me there on these charges?” Paul answered: “I am now standing before Caesar’s court, where I ought to be tried. I have not done any wrong to the Jews, as you yourself know very well. If, however, I am guilty of doing anything deserving death, I do not refuse to die. But if the charges brought against me by these Jews are not true, no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!” After Festus had conferred with his council, he declared: “You have appealed to Caesar. To Caesar you will go!”

  45. “Paul’s Long Journey to Rome” Acts 21-28 Paul before King Herod Agrippa II Acts 26:27-29 King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you do.” Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?” Paul replied, “Short time or long—I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.”
