  3. Textbook: The Developing Child & Info. from Infants, Children and Adolescents-Pearson • Topics covered: Children & Parenting Pregnancy & Childbirth Baby’s First Year The Child From 1 to 3 The Child From 4 to 6 The Child From 7 to 12

In Child Development students will… • Work individually & in groups • Observe guest speakers on some topics covered • Learn about resources available to them • Be provided with the opportunity to earn Pacific NW College Credit (Tech Prep) *More info under the Child Development tab at http://sarahortonihs.weebly.com/

  5. Attendance • In depth coverage of material in class requires active student engagement and failure to attend class prevents active student engagement, which is an expectation of students at this school. Students need to attend class! 

  6. Grading • Students are evaluated through daily Classwork (30%), Assessments (20%), Projects, Leadership and Final Exam. • Students can make up work, they are responsible for getting their work in, by the end of each unit. • I don’t give much homework! Textbooks stay in class. • Please check my website or Skyward for updated grades and the class page to see what’s happening in class.

  7. Leadership • F.C.C.L.A. (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) • Various Leadership Projects will be offered (or through FCCLA) or will be completed in/out of class. Students will have the opportunity to compete with their final project from class. *STAR Events

  8. Project(s) • Theorists Project • S.T.A.R. Events Project- The opportunity to present at the FCCLA Area 4 Regional competition. • More projects to come…Please check the class page, future handouts for details on each.

  9. Internship • Your student may have the opportunity to work with grade school children this semester. • IHS may be partnering with Clark Elementary • The “Reading Buddies” program
