  5. UNIFORM PATROL DIVISION * Estimated population based on the 2010 National Census and State of Florida EDR figures Traffic enforcement is a priority in the city of Hawthorne. Numerous violations are observed and enforced each week. The school zone at the 21500 block of SE SR 20 is enforced regularly and multiple violations are always observed. During the “Click it or Ticket” detail, over 300 traffic citations were issued within the city limits by the participating deputies. While enforcing the traffic laws in this area, there are always multiple arrests made for criminal traffic violations such as DWLSR and persons having active warrants from Alachua and surrounding counties. Several citations that have been issued were for driving 30mph or more over the posted speed limits. The above chart reflects the top 5 categories of tickets.

  7. CRIMINAL CASE REPORTS FOR 2011 MAJOR CRIMES IN HAWTHORNE CITY LIMITS Note: Not all locations map correctly due to inconsistencies with address and map coordinates. Some locations have multiple occurrences.

  8. WARRANTS BUREAU Warrant information is based on mailing address. • Total reflects Felony, Misdemeanor, Traffic and other miscellaneous warrants types not reflected in above data. No miscellaneous warrants were • recorded for Hawthorne in 2011.

  9. NARCOTICS INVESTIGATIONS PATROL In 2011 there were 26 narcotics cases handled by Patrol Deputies within the City of Hawthorne. The map at right shows locations of drug arrests. GAINESVILLE/ALACHUA COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE Currently, the Task Force has on-going investigations in the area. We urge citizens to report narcotics activity to our drug tip line (374-1849) or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 372-STOP. Drug Task Force investigated three cases and made five arrests or sworn complaints.

  10. Notable Arrests in 2011: GuenevereHudnall Hudnall was arrested for the Murder of William Hudnall which occurred on 6/9/11. Guenevere is currently in jail awaiting trial. Arrested on 6/10/2011 Stephanie Hudnall Hudnall was arrested for the Murder of William Hudnall which occurred on 6/9/11. She is currently in jail awaiting trial. Arrested on 6/10/2011 Derrick Jordan Jordan was arrested for 2 Armed Robberies that occurred in Hawthorne on 10/29/11 at the Shell station. Jordan is currently in jail awaiting trail. Arrested on 11/15/2011 Jamard Scott Scott was arrested for an Armed Burglary that occurred on 10/26/11. He is currently in jail awaiting trail. Arrested on 11/10/2011

JUVENILE RELATIONS BUREAU • The School Resource Deputy (SRD) program has a contractual agreement with the Alachua County Public Schools that places deputies in Alachua County middle and high schools. The deputies’ responsibilities include law enforcement, counseling, mentoring and education. The Juvenile Relations Bureau is also involved in Teen Court, the Washington D.C. Safety Patrol trip and Operation Spring Break where Deputies patrol at beaches in St. John’s County. • ACSO Deputy Sheriff Charles McCray is assigned to Hawthorne High School. • There were Seventeen (17) reports written by the School Resource Deputy in Hawthorne (Hawthorne Middle/High School.) • Of the Seventeen (17) reports: • Three (3) were Cleared with Arrest (VOP x2 and Disorderly) • Four (4) were Cleared with Sworn Complaint (Simple Assault, Battery, Trespass and Possession of Marijuana Less 20 G) • Additionally: Two (2) Hawthorne Middle/High School Students attended the Teen Driver Challenge sponsored by the Juvenile Relations Bureau in 2011; and • Sixteen (16) Hawthorne (Shell Elementary students and chaperones) participated in the 2011 Washington D.C. Safety Patrol Trip.

  23. JUVENILE RELATIONS BUREAU • Sixteen (16) Hawthorne (Shell Elementary students and chaperones) participated in the 2011 Washington D.C. Safety Patrol Trip. Students from Shell Elementary School at the Lincoln Memorial during the Washington, D.C. trip.

  24. SEXUAL OFFENDERS/PREDATORS The number of sexual offenders currently residing in or near the city of Hawthorne is 23. In Alachua County there are a total of 348 sexual offenders. EXCERPTS FROM PRESS RELEASES: 2012 For Immediate Release: Today’s Date: April 25, 2012 Prepared by: PIO Art Forgey Release #: 2012-023 Incident Date: April 25, 2012 Incident Time: 1:08 p.m. Incident Location: 7429 SE 225th Way, Hawthorne, FL 32640 Media Advisory: Death Investigation Shortly after 1:00 p.m., the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Combined Communications Center received multiple 911 calls advising that someone had been shot in Hawthorne. Deputies and EMS personnel responded to the area. Upon their arrival, they located a 23 year-old victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was declared deceased on scene by EMS personnel. Initial investigation revealed that the shooting may have been the result of a disturbance, but the victim’s role in the disturbance is unknown at this time. Detectives are conducting interviews with witnesses and neighbors in the area. The investigation is continuing and more information will be released as it becomes available. If you have any information about this crime, please call the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office at (352)-955-1818. Callers may also remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a reward up to $1,000 by calling Crime Stoppers at (352) 372- STOP (7867). Anyone that provides information on this crime that leads to an arrest and seizure of a firearm is eligible for a $1,000 cash reward through the Alachua County Gun Bounty Program. The gun bounty callers can remain anonymous throughout the process by calling Crime Stoppers at (352) 372-STOP (7867) or the Gainesville Police Department’s tip line at (352)-393-7700 where they are also eligible for a cash reward. It is our belief that the Gun Bounty Program and GPD’s cash tip line will encourage the community’s involvement and play a key role in being able to quickly identify and locate violent suspects.

Upcoming 2012 events: • A sexual offender address verification, juvenile probation check, and warrants sweep will be conducted. • A traffic detail will be conducted by the Uniform Patrol Division in June. The focus of the detail will be on speed and seatbelt violations. • Continued narcotic and prostitute investigations are taking place by our Drug Task Force (DTF) • COPS details are being planned to address current problems • Several OT increased foot patrols in the down town area
