2. In 2004, a group of like-minded dynamic individuals, specialists in their own fields, came together with a common vision to contribute their best to help bridge this gap between demand and supply. Maitri society was formed and the foundation for starting a Dental College in Drug was laid. A state-of-art dental health care and education facility was installed on the outskirts of Drug in Chhattisgarh state known as Maitri Dental College Drug and Research Institute (MDCRC). MDCRC was started with a commitment to provide quality education, patient care and research. It was incidentally the first and only institute in this part of Chhattisgarh state dedicated to field of dentistry. Since then, the faculty and paramedical staff at the centre have been providing quality health care services to the people of the region. Two years later, i.e. in 2006, the Government of India granted permission to Maitri Dental College Drug and Research Institute to enrol students for the Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) course thus starting our journey to train skilled dental surgeons.
