  3. 3 | P a g e These are the 5 Mason jar salads I made for my lunches this week. Pair with a piece of garlic bread or crackers and you have the perfect lunch. Quick Tip: I use wide mouth mason jars so that the salad is easy to pack in the jar and also easy to dump in a bowl. 5 Salad in a J ar Recipes to make this week Apple, Cranberry, Almond Mason jar Salad Greek Inspired Mason Jar Salad Mandarin Orange, Cashew, and Quinoa Salad Southwestern Black Bean and Veggie Salad in a Jar Healthy Layered Tuna Mason jar Salad The Secret to a Perfect and Tasty Mason jar Salad Is All in the Order The premise is simple. Layer all your ingredients. 1. The dressing goes in first. This is so important! This guarantees that your salad ingredients don’t get soggy. ** I personally have tried both ways…putting dressing in the jar and also waiting and putting on the dressing when I eat the salad. I prefer No Dressing in the jar. 5 salads lasts an entire week of lunches for me. By time I get to day 5, I don’t want the moisture from the dressing making my salad limp. But, you pick the way you prefer to make your salad. ** 2. Then go with a grain or a protein, or anything else big and chunky. This protects your more delicate ingredients from getting wet. That way when you turn the Mason jar over and unload it all into a bowl, the greens will make the salad bed. Genius! C hoosing a Smart C ombo of Ingredients Is Also Key You want to mix textures and flavors. And ideally, you’ll have a filling protein, something salty and crunchy, and something sweet and tangy. I always try to put a different kind of protein in my salads to keep it different each day. I would get bored if I ate the same lunch every single day, so I make a variety of salads. 1. Apple, Cranberry, Almond Mason jar Salad This make-ahead salad is just what you need to cure those sad desk lunch blues. The crisp apple, almonds, celery and cranberry pair together perfectly. I also added a slice of bacon for additional flavor and protein. I love that you can add in leftover chicken or steak too! Because of almonds being a hard nut, they do not get soggy in the jar. But I do eat any of my salads that contain nuts early in the week. Choose your favorite dressing and enjoy! Originally Published in | https://gethealthyenjoylife.com/

  5. 5 | P a g e 2. Greek Inspired Mason J ar Salad This is one of my favorites because I love the combination of flavors and crunch. Enjoy the benefits of the Mediterranean diet with this Greek- inspired Mason jar salad. Packed with cucumbers, olives, protein- rich chickpeas, red onions and cheese. When ready to eat, top with a vinaigrette dressing for a hearty meal that’s packed with flavor! 3. Mandarin Orange, Cashew, Quinoa Salad in a J ar This salad is sweet and crunchy. The combination of celery, cashews and mandarin oranges is a delicious combination! It packs a punch of protein with the addition of quinoa. Chicken would also be great added to this mason jar salad along with sesame seeds. I like to use a vinaigrette dressing with this salad, but choose your favorite and go with it. Cashews can become soggy if they sit long. So I eat this salad within 48 hours of making it, or you can leave out the cashews and add when adding your dressing. For crunch I added carrots and celery. Additionally the combination of black beans, red onions, cilantro and cheese makes this combination soooo yum! I like to add an avocado when I add my dressing. Other options could be chicken, corn, and tomatoes when making your jar salad. Ranch dressing would be a good toping for this salad along with corn chips. 5. Healthy Layered Tuna Mason J ar Salad This Mason Jar salad is packed with tuna protein and heart-healthy omega-3 fats. You can turn tuna into a gourmet meal. For crunch I added celery and red onions, then a slice of bacon (because bacon makes everything better), tuna, and a hard-boiled egg. Top with your dressing of choice and you have a delicious protein packed salad! I hope these salad in a jar ideas make your week easier to eat healthy and give you a variety of options to enjoy!
