  3. Funding • CWRRG $4,500 for purchase of 3 sheds • Gaston County Match: $900 used for paint, labor, shelving, signage, brochures and advertising

  4. 2010 CWRRG: Swap shops

  5. Why swap shops? • 3 larger convenience sites • Saving landfill space • Service to community • Reduce, reuse, recycle!

  6. 2010 CWRRG: Pharma boxes

  7. Funding • CWRRG: $ 3,338 for purchase of 6 pharmaceutical storage containers • Gaston County Match: $667 used towards custom signage (large labels for boxes), scales used by police to weigh drugs, brochures distributed to pharmacies, doctors’ offices, nursing facilities, senior centers, etc.

  8. Partnership: County Police • Collection boxes located in 6 PD throughout county • Collection rates optimized by 24/7 availability • Embraced by residents

  9. 2013: Mercury Grant

  10. Funding • Mercury Grant: $6060 used towards purchase of metal building, mercury spill kit, signage and shipping boxes • Gaston County contribution: (no match required) funding for concrete flooring

  17. Latex Paint Diversion

  18. LATEX AT LANDFILL • Latex diversion occurs at HHW events, ~1000 LBS/EVENT • Latex is dropped off during landfill hours, Monday- Saturday • Added to posishell for alternate daily cover

  19. DME: durable medical equipment Partnering with the Cherryville Shrine Club, all convenience sites collect, Shriners recondition and redistribute.
