  1. Ultimately Prayer has two purposes. - To Know God - To Make God Known.

  2. The key to understanding what prayer truly is all about is - Jesus. Jesus prayed continually. Every chapter of the gospel of Luke has Jesus praying.

  3. “Coram Deo” (Before the face of God) - To live “coramdeo” is to live one’s entire life in the presence of God, under the authority of God, to the glory of God. R.C. Sproul

  4. 1. Prayer is the ENTRANCE to the very throne of God.

Hebrews 4:14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

  6. How to APPROACH God’s Throne.

  7. Isaiah 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

Matthew 6:1: “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. …. 3: But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4: so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

  16. C. The PAUSE of the Cherubim reveals the REWARD of True Prayer. Ezekiel 1:25 And there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads. When they stood still, they let down their wings. (Be Still and Know the He is God. Ps 46:10)
